Colleagues,
I am happy to announce publication of the latest issue of _Early
Modern Japan: An Interdisciplinary Journal_. You can access it directly at
the following URL:
https://kb.osu.edu/dspace/handle/1811/53608
or you can simply do an on-line search using the journal name.
This issue marks our 20th year of publication and includes three
articles from the fields of literature and history:
Roger K. Thomas, "'A Land Blessed by Word Spirit:' Kamochi Masazumi
and Early Modern Constructs of *Kotodama*
D. Colin Jaundrill, "Military Reform and the Illusion of Social Mobility in
Bakumatsu-era Chōshū"* *
Matthew W. Shores, "Jippensha Ikku, *Hizakurige*, and Comic Storytelling"
A reminder that EMJ is a _peer-reviewed_ journal. We are interested in
manuscripts from all fields related to early modern Japan (basically
from the mid-16th century through the first decades of the Meiji era),
including comparative works. Inquiries to
earlymodernjapan.journal@gmail.com.
Philip C. Brown, Editor
